Salsa Sin Fronteras Dance Workshop
Time & Location
About the Event
Did you know that “salsa” means sauce? The term « salsa » was used for the first time in the 60s in New York and represented a blend of Afro Cuban rhythms and music styles such as son, guaguanco, mambo… But did you know that “salsa” is also a popular form of social dance? As the music genre, it has the same Afro Cuban roots and comes from folk dances like son, cha cha cha, mambo, rumba, danzon. The dance, along with the music, saw major development in the mid-70’s in New York during its golden age.
Because we believe that salsa music and dance should always go hand in hand, and because we want to share our passion with you, Latino Pulse is really honoured to host a special dance workshop and bring to Lafayette one of the best salsa dancers and renowned teacher in Louisiana: Gilles Yougoubare from Salsa Rouge. He will be assisted by Panda Salsa from Latino Pulse.
